Some of you have probably noticed that your VMs were not responding for a few hours this morning. We will try to shed some light on what happened.

This morning we experienced a failure in the cooling system of the data center housing ~okeanos. This led to physical machines hosting ~okeanos VMs shutting down automatically, to avoid permanent damage due to overheating.

Your VMs and Pithos files should remain unaffected in the above timeframe.

UPDATE: Maintenance completed successfully

The Cyclades and Pithos Web UI and APIs will be inaccessible on Wednesday, Apr 3 2013 09:00-16:00 EEST due to scheduled maintenance with regard to the Pithos backend storage hardware. We will be doing all the necessary actions to be able to move to a new technology in the future that will enable us to provide even more features.

Your VMs and Pithos files should remain unaffected in the above timeframe. You will also have full access to your VMs through the network during the maintenance window.

Hello ~okeanos users,

The ~okeanos upgrade finished successfully, although it took us a couple of hours more, due to an unexpected incident. There might still be some side glitches, please report them if you stumble upon them. One could say that everything would be just plain boring if the unexpected never happened, but we prefer to believe the illusion that next time we will be able to predict *everything* :)
